How to Fund Extended Travel

Yuck, our least favorite part! And, to be honest, we're taking the "scope to budget" approach wherein we'll travel as long as the cash lasts. It's really hard to know how much to budget for a trip like this... even if you get some sense of daily or monthly rates per country, everyone's travel style is different and what one person considers roughing it is another's mid-range. Lonely Planet and Footprint guidebooks have some decent per-country estimates (as long as you've got a recently-published book, that is). Sonia averaged about $30 a day during her Central Am travel, inclusive of local travel, souvenirs, tours/scuba, and all daily expenses. So we're factoring that into our best-guess estimates.
